View full history →About the Singapore gold market
Gold jewellery sold in Singapore is typically hallmarked by the Singapore Assay Office (SAO) with a distinctive lion's-head stamp, verifying purity such as 916 (22K) or 999 (24K). While hallmarking isn't legally compulsory in Singapore, reputable jewellers voluntarily submit pieces for SAO certification under the Singapore Standard CP 7:1999 code of practice, and 22K remains the dominant purity in the retail jewellery market.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
