About the Ukraine gold market

KmalServico's Ukraine page is built around grams and Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH). 585 (14K) is the standard domestic gold purity, and the market is overwhelmingly supplied by domestic manufacturing -- over 99% of gold jewellery sold in Ukraine is made within the country rather than imported.

Market notes

Virtually all gold jewellery sold in Ukraine has to pass mandatory state hallmarking, which confirms the metal actually contains the purity it's stamped with rather than relying on the manufacturer's own claim. That government-verified system is a meaningfully stronger guarantee than a purely voluntary hallmarking regime.

Buying gold in Ukraine

585 (14K, 58.5% fine) is the purity most Ukrainian jewellery is sold at, noticeably lower than the 22K or 24K standards common in South Asian or Gulf markets. A Ukrainian quote at 585 shouldn't be compared directly to a 916 or 999 figure from elsewhere without adjusting for that purity difference first.

Tax & duty notes

Ukraine's standard VAT rate is 20%, and it applies to the wide majority of transactions including jewellery -- there's no broad gold-specific exemption the way some markets carve out for investment-grade bullion.

Methodology

How we calculate the price

  • We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
  • The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
  • The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
