Turkey has a distinctive relationship with gold. The World Gold Council describes gold as embedded in Turkish life and notes its role in weddings and religious life, while generations of savers have also used gold as a hedge against inflation and currency weakness.

KmalServico uses gram as Turkey’s primary weight. The Turkish market also uses millesimal fineness terminology such as 916, 875 and 585 alongside karat descriptions. LBMA’s Turkish gold-market study documents this milyem system and notes that jewellery manufacturers commonly measure gold-related margins by grams.

Check whether the quotation is for gram gold, jewellery or another product, then match the fineness before comparing numbers. In Turkey, 22K jewellery and high-fineness investment products can serve different purposes, so a single gold price should not be treated as a universal retail quote. KmalServico’s live gram table is the neutral reference point for the metal component.

Turkey's VAT (20% standard rate) doesn't apply to a jewellery sale in full -- jewellers calculate the pure gold content using the same milyem fineness system already used for gram-gold pricing, and only the portion of the price above that bullion value is taxed. Standard investment bullion itself carries no VAT at all, since there's no non-bullion margin left to tax.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
