KmalServico's Sudan page is built around grams and Sudanese pounds (SDG). Unlike most markets this site covers, Sudan's gold story is primarily a production and export story rather than a retail-buyer one -- the country is a significant gold producer, and that shapes the market more than retail jewellery demand does.

Artisanal, small-scale mining accounts for roughly 80% of Sudan's national gold output, concentrated in River Nile, Northern and Red Sea states. That production base is the dominant feature of Sudan's gold economy, distinct from markets where the domestic story is mainly about jewellery buying and selling.

Khartoum's Souq Al-Arabi and Omdurman's traditional souk are the main domestic retail points for gold in Sudan, selling jewellery and bars across a purity range from 18K up to 24K. Confirm which purity a specific piece is before comparing it to a quote elsewhere, since the range sold domestically is wider than in markets that settle on one dominant standard.

No documented consumer VAT or sales-tax regime specific to retail gold purchases in Sudan was found in the sources behind this page, so none is stated here rather than guessed. Sudan's gold economy is better understood through its production side -- roughly 80% artisanal-mined -- than through a retail tax structure the way most other markets on this site are.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
