View full history →About the Mongolia gold market
Mongolia mines gold at an average purity of around 90%, but lacks the domestic refining capacity to bring it up to the 99.99% standard required for international bullion markets — so most Mongolian gold is exported semi-refined and finished abroad, in countries including Russia, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Domestically, hallmarked jewellery commands a higher price than unmarked pieces, since a hallmark is the only widely available proof of purity in a market where certification isn't yet universal.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
