About the Mexico gold market

Mexico's gold market is shaped by a distinctive local convention: 10K gold (41.7% fine) is a common purity in everyday Mexican jewellery, alongside the higher 14K and 18K pieces also sold.

Market notes

Mexico's national gold bullion coin is the Libertad, minted in 99.9%-fine gold by the government's Casa de Moneda de México across five weights from 1/20 troy ounce up to a full ounce -- a different reference point from the country's common 10K/14K/18K jewellery purities described in this page's market notes.

Methodology

How we calculate the price

  • We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from xaus.com + gold-api.com, with automatic failover between providers.
  • The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
  • The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
