View full history →About the Japan gold market
Japanese gold jewellery uses a distinctive "K" prefix notation — K18, K24, K14 — rather than the "18K" suffix style common elsewhere, and the mark is self-applied by the manufacturer rather than struck by an independent state assay office, unlike the British, French or Italian systems. K18 (750-fine, 75% gold) is the dominant standard for Japanese fine jewellery, bridal sets and watch cases, and is directly interchangeable with the European "750" fineness mark.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
