KmalServico's Colombia page is built around grams and Colombian pesos (COP). 18K gold, marked "Ley 750" or "Oro de Primera Ley", is the standard local purity and is often regarded as higher-quality than gold found in some other markets, rather than a lower-purity compromise.

Colombian jewellers describe 18K (75% fine) gold as "Ley 750" or "Oro de Primera Ley", terminology that signals a guaranteed purity standard rather than a discount grade. 24K is generally avoided for jewellery in Colombia because it's considered too soft to hold up to daily wear.

Look for a "Ley 750" or "750" stamp to confirm 18K purity on a Colombian piece -- that's the standard to expect, not a lower grade compared to 22K or 24K jewellery found elsewhere. A 24K piece is unusual in the Colombian retail market specifically because the metal is too soft for durable jewellery.

Colombia's standard VAT (IVA) rate is 19%, administered by the national tax authority DIAN, and applies to the ordinary jewellery retail transaction the way it would to most other retail goods.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
