View full history →About the Cambodia gold market
Cambodia has no official government hallmarking system for gold — dealers instead use a nitric-acid touchstone test, locally called "teuk dorp" (water-bottle test), to verify purity on the spot in an otherwise unregulated free market. Reflecting a strong cultural preference for gold as portable, easily-liquidated wealth, Khmer buyers often seek gold as pure as 99.999%, known locally as "meas teuk dorp" (fine gold), rather than the lower-karat alloys common in jewellery elsewhere.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
