View full history →About the Bolivia gold market
Gold has become Bolivia's single largest export product, but the country adds little domestic value to it — the vast majority is shipped out as unwrought (unrefined) gold rather than as finished bars or jewellery. Bolivia's central bank buys gold domestically through a state trading arm, paying in bolivianos at the official exchange rate plus a premium of up to 18% to compete with the parallel market, then ships the semi-pure gold to the Istanbul Gold Refinery — a London Bullion Market Association-listed refiner — for final processing abroad.

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
