Georgia's gold trade dates back to its historic position on the Silk Road, when Tbilisi served as a trading crossroads for caravans carrying gold and other valuables between Europe and Asia. Today, Georgia has one of the world's most deregulated gold markets: there are no licensing requirements, no import duties, and no restrictions on the quantity or value of gold traded domestically, with the National Bank of Georgia serving as an official channel for gold purchases.

How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from gold-api.com + xaus.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
