Jewellery sold in Brazil is regulated under INMETRO's Consolidated Technical Regulation (Portaria No. 123 of 2021), issued by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology, which sets binding limits on lead and cadmium content rather than mandating a purity hallmark. 18-karat gold is the dominant…

Brazil's gold tax structure layers several distinct levies (IOF, IPI, and standard sales taxes) rather than one simple VAT-equivalent rate, so a retail gold or jewellery price in Brazil can be harder to decompose than in a single-VAT market -- ask for an itemised receipt before assuming the full price reflects only…

Methodology
How we calculate the price
- We fetch the international spot gold price (XAU/USD) live from xaus.com + gold-api.com, with automatic failover between providers.
- The spot rate is converted into the local currency using live exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com, then scaled by purity (24K, 22K, 18K…) and by weight (gram, tola, ounce, kilogram, baht).
- The result is the pure spot value. Retail counters may add dealer premium, tax and making charges — the number here is the underlying benchmark.
